Tom developed a strong background in sales with IBM and Computer Sciences Corporation. Tom entered the commercial real estate industry in 1971 with the Henry S. Miller Co., as a land broker. Tom joined the Hank Dickerson Company in 1974 specializing in industrial and commercial property sales. From 1978 through 1996, Tom operated as an independent broker assisting clients in leasing and/or property acquisition/disposition in the office, retail and industrial real estate markets. During Tom's 31-year real estate career, he has represented corporate clients, developers and investors in the sale, purchase and leasing of varied types of properties. One of Tom's landmark transactions was on the north side of I-10 West at the Sam Houston Tollway, where he converted several large industrial properties into 700,000 plus square feet of successful retail development. Although Tom's primary focus is property sales, he has negotiated leases for large blocks of space exceeding 100,000 square feet each for individual office, industrial and retail clients. Since joining McDade, Smith, Gould, Johnston + Company in 1997, Tom has specialized in the sale/purchase of income properties and land. To date, Tom has closed $115,000,000 in transactions with McDade, Smith, Gould, Johnston + Company to include 1,592 apartment units along with significant land transactions with Spanos Corporation, JPI Texas Development, Windsor Residential, Interloch Corporation and Walmart. The Houston Business Journal has recognized Tom as one of Houston's Big Hitters in commercial real estate brokerage.
